Footwear Fitting Guide

Epic has gone all scientific. We know that it's not always easy to know how a pair of shoes bought online will fit, so we got our flipchart out and came up with a little tool to help you feel more confident about the fit of your skate shoes.

Why do I need to do this?

Most shoe companies create their shoes using a wooden 'last'. A last is simply a wooden representation of what they think is the average size of a foot. Different companies make different lasts from each other, depending on what they think the average human foot measures.
This is the very reason why some companies shoes will fit differently than others, despite being the same size on the box! We want to offer you as much information as possible when buying a pair of shoes from us, but if you know how a certain make fits, you'll probably have no need for this. Which is nice.

What does this mean?

If you can compare the measurements of your favourite pair of shoes with ours, then you are more likely to get a perfect fit!

How we measure

The epic footwear measurement table has two measurements indicated by the arrows on the diagram shown: the WIDTH is the widest part of the insole, from side to side. The LENGTH is the longest part of the insole, measured from the bottom of the heel to the toe.

For consistency, all of our measurements are taken by the finest measuring tools available, and always from the left insole. The measurements we take are not perfect, and out little tables are only meant as a helper!

How do I measure my insoles?

Simply pull out the left insole from the best fitting pair of shoes you own (peg the nose?) get a 30cm school ruler and measure length and width as shown above. It takes less than 5 minutes!
