So what is ‘Clothespegging’?
Clothespegging is the clipping of a humble clothes peg to another person’s clothing, without them noticing…
Epic has created hundreds of these wooden wonders, and we have a bit of fun from time to time by clothespegging our fellow citizens. Some of our customers also receive pegs as part of their order.
If you want in on the action and want to get pegging, we can provide you with a bunch of free pegs. Email clothespegging@epicstore.co.uk, and suggest to us who, where, or what you are planning to peg. Once successfully initiated, submit the evidence by taking some photos or shooting a vid and send it back to clothespegging@epicstore.co.uk
How to Clothespeg
Clothespegging Etiquette
Clothespegging requires skill, determination and a steady hand. Follow these simple rules to preserve this institution.
- Never peg a fellow clothespegger.
- Use your discretion and common sense; if someone is likely to react badly, don’t bother. It takes away the fun.
- If caught clothespegging, apologise and smile, better still; don’t get caught.
- If clothespegging an object, photograph it then remove the peg. It’s littering otherwise.
Clothespegging hot spots
- Escalators make great opportunities given that they allow for close proximity. Peripheral vision is limited, and the escalator user is focused on one thing: making sure they make it to the top without getting mangled when the steps disappear at the top.
- Queues are good; be aware of lingering however. The professional pegger will never remain too long after a successful clipping. If you hang around, the chances are someone will join the queue behind you, and potentially dob you in.
- Crowds offer anonymity and distraction. Festivals, Music gigs, and pubs/clubs are all possibilities.
Clothespegging people
- Hoodies were made for clothespegging! Just imagine an entire hood, completely clipped from one side to another. and very undetectable, being behind the head and out of sight. (Just remember to be quiet).
- Shirts: The best place for a shirt peg is a fold of the material at the back, or if the wearer is not part of the ‘tucked in’ brigade then go for the tail of the shirt at the bottom. Be careful not to get caught at the point of clothespegging, this looks bad!
- Baggy trousers: Are these still fashionable? A few of us never went for the tight trouser thing, so there must be a few more like us? Clip those pegs by pretending to tie a shoelace or drop something deliberately.
- Jackets: Again look for folds at the rear of the garment, don’t go for pockets. Hoods offer possibilities, as do toggles, zips and duffles.
- Bags: Aim for backpacks over handbags as people might think you are pickpocketing.
- Hair:A dreadlocked person is yet to be clothespegged, try and be the first…
